Home Office Petrockstowe

Peter Wright decided to move from Portsmouth to Mid Devon where he could work from home in a home office.  Having found a suitable property near Okehampton with a large garden, he started his search for a suitable home office building.  Peter is self employed writing educational resources.  He therefore needed a garden building which he could divide into separate rooms to create office space as well as a reception area.

Much of Peter’s time is spent working at a computer so he was delighted to find that with a John Shields Woodwork building he could have large picture windows to take advantage of the views of the Devon Countryside.  Having looked widely for a suitable building he decided to use John Shields Woodwork because the company was local to his area and offered a complete job including planning, site visits, base work, supply, delivery and erection.

The highest standards of insulation and double glazing were important factors in the design of the building.  The wooden home office that Peter ordered included insulation in the floor, walls and roof.  In addition, the double glazing and security locking windows will provide a very suitable working environment.  Peter was impressed that all the external timber was pressure treated.  He chose a green plastisol box profile steel roof and black PVC guttering.

The interior finish of the home office building has a hardwood plywood floor, 12mm MDF boarding on the walls and tongue and groove pine on the ceiling.  All the door furniture is brass and all the external fixings are galvanised.  A veranda 1.2m wide has been included to provide a recreation area and to give protection to the doors and windows from the elements.
