Commercial Timber Building.
Gidleigh Park Hotel Store.
As a result of new ownership at the famous Gidleigh Park Hotel, Chagford, Devon there has been an upgrading of outbuildings.
The priority was to construct a large workshop and store that would provide functional space for the hotel’s maintenance staff. John Shields Woodwork produced a quotation in accordance with the architect’s plans. The building was designed to meet Building Regulations. A slate roof was required due to the location within the Dartmoor National Park.

The quotation was accepted and the job completed on time for the re-opening of the hotel.
The design included shiplap timber cladding, stained dark brown, over a waterproof membrane and tanalised plywood lining. Large double doors were required for access by garden machinery. A partition wall was fitted to provide a comfortable workshop area, easily heated in the winter months.
John Shields handled all contact with the National Park as part of the job.
A sample of slate was sent for approval by the Dartmoor National Park planning department, together with a sample of the Cuprinol stain for the walls. All follow up queries were dealt with quickly and efficiently.
